Brandon Craft

Hi, I'm Brandon Keith Craft, and I am currently a grad student in Auburn University's School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences. My interest is in ecological forestry that manages for the full range of landowner objectives and accounts for ecological services.

My name is Brandon Keith Craft, and I am from Albany, Georgia. My wife is an Assistant Professor of Humanities, Philosophy, and Theology at Point University. We just moved back from St Andrews, Scotland where she did her Master's and PhD. We're glad to be back nearer to home. We've known each other since sixth grade. Our first conversation was an argument over who was smarter! We still have this conversation, but these days I'm willing to admit it's her.My undergrad is a Bachelor's of Arts with a dual major in Biblical Studies and Humanities. I originally intended to go to grad school for Creative Writing, but working at the Joseph W. Jones Ecological Research Center at Ichauway helped me realize how much I loved working in the woods. The types of forestry that interest me most are the ones that tap into my former creative interests, artisan approaches that preserve the forest's complexity and beauty while meeting a broader range of landowner objectives. Although I tend to think of myself as a generalist, I have developed a specialist skillset in the areas of: GIS, prescribed fire, and forest ecology (including its application in the form of silviculture).
